Hopefully Outlook for Mac will change my mind. I’ve been using a web version of Gmail on my Mac Mini for so long because I was never fully satisfied with Mail. Strangely, unlike the rest of the Office suite, Outlook lacks the ribbon interface going instead for a more streamlined and neater look and feel. Microsoft is also planning to support Apple’s Focus experience with new Outlook Profiles that is coming soon. It also supports Handoff so you can go from working on your iOS device to your macOS without a pause as long as you’re logged into your Apple ID. To get the most from the new Outlook for Mac, Microsoft says that they’ve developed a widget, included reminders in the Notification Center, and working to create a peek of upcoming calendar events in the Menu Bar.
Outlook for Mac includes support for accounts, Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo, and any email provider that has IMAP support. The new Outlook is optimised for Apple Silicon, with faster performance and faster sync speeds than previous versions. In a blog post, Microsoft has announced that it is making Outlook free on macOS, with no Microsoft 365 subscription or license necessary. The Outlook team is also working on a 'menu peek' feature to let you quickly look at your calendar events from the menu bar. Continues to work with popular services like Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo and Microsofts own services. Microsoft gives Mail a run for its money as it makes Outlook for Mac free to use The Outlook app is now available for free on the App Store with no subscription needed.
